Bulk load contact records

Postby jingjenny » Wed Jul 08, 2009 8:12 pm

Hi,

I'm new to Sit. We have a customer list in Excel format which has about 10000 customer info. in it, is there a way we can bulk load the list in to Sit as the contact records? To enter the records manually would be impossible. We also want to have the contact info. automatically filled out in a ticket when we enter the contact's name. Is it possible? Last, we want to disable the function for the contacts to log in their account for now. We just want to have a web form on our homepage, the customers can send tickets to us and we will contact them via email. Can we do this using Sit?

Thanks.

There is no import facility within SiT, so at the moment you'd have to find some way of getting that data in the MySQL database that powers SiT. The contact table schema is fairly self explanatory. I can offer paid consultancy to help with that if you can't find another solution, please email me privately if you're interested.

We also want to have the contact info. automatically filled out in a ticket when we enter the contact's name. Is it possible?

When creating a ticket (what we refer to as an "Incident") all you need to do is enter the contacts name (or a unique part of it) and SiT will search for the person and then use all contact info. So you don't have to enter the contact info each time, don't worry.

Last, we want to disable the function for the contacts to log in their account for now. We just want to have a web form on our homepage, the customers can send tickets to us and we will contact them via email. Can we do this using Sit?

Yes you can do this very easily, an administrator can go to SiT! | Control Panel | Configuration and then to Features | Portal and set Enable = FALSE

Hope this helps,
