[RESOLVED] Holding queue Email attachments

Postby ChristianWentz » Thu Jun 10, 2010 6:51 am

Hi

I have received an email in the holding queue with an attachment
So i created an incident directly from the holding queue.

My problem is that now when i go to the incident to download the attachment it only downloads "downloads.php".
In the status bar at the bottom of the screen i can see the address of the link when i hover over it with my mouse it says : http://sit.sit.co.za/download.php?id=469.

Thanks

Christian

Hi Christian,

Which Browser are you using? Can you try with another browser and see if you get the same result?

There's a chance this might be related to an issue we discovered recently where a lot of the SiT! .php files have an extra line feed at the end of the file, we've seen a few strange things happening including an issue with downloading attachments. You could perhaps try checking out the 3.x branch from SVN and running that in parallel (not recommended for production use) to see if it fixes this particular issue.

Cheers,

Ivan

Hi Christian,

Ivan is right here, you need to check with multiple browsers, and especially we had some strange results with the latest Mozilla Firefox.

Also something you can check, which came up in our live installation recently is to make sure you have your attachment paths set correctly. Are you using Windows or Linux? If it persist let us know some more about your installation.

I'm marking this thread as solved, there hasn't been any answer in a long time, post something if you disagree ;-)
If you have a problem, give us enough info of what you have done, what is configured in relation to your question.

Can you make a test server and make a fresh install on this ? and try

if that doesn't work can you try using the SVN on the test server ?

cheers

Tomse

I'm just thinking here, did you check the permissions on the server ?

and mostly check the permissions on the attachments-xxxxxxxxxx folder

they should have read rights on files and read/execute on directories. and the owner should be set to the user that the webserver is running as (most likely www, apache or www-data depending on your dist)

Hi all!

I have this problem since i use SiT.
I also had this problem on windows and linux servers.
now we are using vmware machine with linux.
Tried with opera and ie.

It try to download file download.php instead of update.
the link is http://client.ancom-support.ru/download.php?id=85

i can see file with name "85" in folder "attachments-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx". i downloaded it manually and rename to 85.png (it was picture) - and its ok.

permissions on "attachments-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx" are ok (write to all) but not on subfolders and subfiles. is it ok?

may be it helps.

no, the subfolders of the attachment folder should be

Code: Select all
chmod -R ugo+wx attachment-xxxxxx
chown -R www-data:www-data attachment-xxxx

where attachment-xxxxx is your attachment folder
dont forget to either set the path or enter the SiT folder before typing the above commands.

edit: the www-data:www-data user/group is for ubuntu, replace with whatever user your webserver is running as.

some news...

download.php dont work with attachments received in email (in holding queue email and in incident, made based on holding queue email).
but download.php works fine when you try to download an uploaded file to incident (manually from incident details page).

also i see that attachments for incidents store in attachment-xxxxx\yyy folder. where yyy - number of incident.
file names are xxx-zzz where xxx is attachment id and zzz is attachment name.
attachments for holding queue email store in attachment-xxxxx\updates folder.
but file names are xxx (without zzz)
