Integration with external forms

Postby mrbeeye » Sun Dec 28, 2008 10:02 am

I work in academic environment.
I'd like to integrate our request forms (e.g. request mail box) with SIT!, so SIT! will be a tool for handling all IT requests.
Request forms are freely available (due to academic).

I'd appreciate an opinion and maybe little help how/where send data from those forms to SIT.

Hi mrbeeye,

The best way (at the moment) would be if you could get the request form to email the request to a email address SiT! can collect from and then configure SiT! to poll this address for new requests.

In SiT! we support two methods of email collection POP/IMAP and piped email (the latter only works on UNIX based systems and requires access to configure the mail system) these are both covered at apps.sourceforge.net/mediawiki/sitracker/index.php?title=InboundEmail This will pull email into SiT! so you can then log the request.

Within SiT! you probably want to configure skills for each of the request such as (new email, forgotten password, email problem) so that your engineers/techies can list the skills they deal with to allow for easier call assignment (either automatic or manual), though this obviously depends on your site.

Hope this helps.
