A tag is a non-hierarchical label or keyword that you can assign to various items within SiT (For example Incidents, contacts, sites and tasks).

Tags are chosen informally and personally by any user who has access to the item record, this provides a quick and easy way to group or categorise data in any way you like. Add tags from the edit page of the relevant record, simply separate a list of single word keywords with space or comma.

The Tags Dashlet, when enabled, displays a tag 'cloud' on your dashboard.

[edit] Tags with Icons

The default SiT installation comes with seven pre-defined tags that have icons:

  • redflag
  • yellowflag
  • blueflag
  • cyanflag
  • greenflag
  • whiteflag
  • blackflag

Adminstrators can define icons for other tags by navigating to SiT! | Control Panel | Configure and then to the Application | Theme tab

The setting Tag Icons defines icons for tags in the format icon=>tag, for example

customer=>site

Would use the icon site.png for the tag 'customer'. The icons that are used can be found in the images/icons directory.

If a site is tagged with a tag that has an icon, the icon is displayed on the Incident Details popup window. This can be useful to set a 'red flag' against a customer that hasn't paid an invoice for example.

[edit] An example

Your sales people want to keep track of customers that ask about your companies products. When a customer asks about your companies offerings in an incident you tag that incident with the tag 'salesquery' so that it's easy to find again later. Once a salesperson has reviewed the incident he/she then removes the tag.
